My Arcadia Experience
In lieu of the fact that London is seven weeks away, I'm going to take this time to tell you a little about Arcadia University. Alot of people will say that the university emphasizes a global perspective and personal attention, but it's so much more than that. Yes I'm participating in the FYSAE(First Year Study Abroad Experience) Program. And yes almost all of my professors choose to have us call them by their first names. But my growth as a student and as an indivdual has stemmed from much more than just these aspects.
Through Arcadia, I joined their Pre-Law Association. That might not sound that exciting but for me Wednesday nights were a weekly highlight. My roommate would always make fun of me for getting ready an hour early when it takes two minutes to walk to the meeting. Through this club, I've already experienced my first trial and have had the continual support of peers and professors who are all eager to see me succeed. I've taken a Travel Writing class that will help me immensely as I begin to post my adventures in London. And through Arcadia, I've created a vast network of friendships, consisting of all unique people and majors. In fact, I didn't even know Arcadia existed up until about a year ago. As a college bound high schooler, I would get tons of emails from hopeful colleges, asking me to sign up for a tour and fill out an application. But Arcadia's was different. Maybe they got me because I'm a sucker for castles. Maybe it was the encouraging acceptance rate. I'm not really sure. But from the moment I started doing research on the school to the end of my first tour I knew this was where I needed to go. Within a few months, I was accepted and ready to finish my senior year.
So here I am as a first year about to begin my second semester. Hopefully finals don't completely suck.-Gabby
7 weeks!
So. It is officially seven weeks until I embark with some classmates to London for our spring semester. I am a freshman at Arcadia University and I, along with 30 or so other students, were given the opportunity to study at City University this spring. I am beyond excited!
Right now, where I will be living is still up in the air. The two options are Thoresby House and Palace Court. Personally, I'd rather stay near Hyde Park and Notting Hill soo I'm rooting for Palace Court. Which would you rather stay in? I'll attach links so you can see the places for yourself.
Seven weeks is right around the cormer and I still have no idea what to pack. Any suggestions? I'll update you next week on how the preparations are going.
